Divine was the name of a R&B based United States 3-girl group who are best known for their platinum, Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Lately" and their Top 20 hit of the George Michaels hit, "One More Try". ~ Group members included Kia Thornton, Nikki Bratcher and Tonia Tash. All three women were teenagers when they were signed by Red Ant/Pendulum Records-BMG. The group shot to overnight success when their debut single "Lately" topped the Billboard pop charts just weeks after the trio graduated from high school. The single was certified platinum for sales of over 1 million units -Divine's successful debut LP, Fairy Tales followed. Lately was the last song to top the Hot 100 before Billboard magazine changed its policy to allow airplay-only tracks to enter the chart and was the first #1 by a girl group since the Spice Girls. Divine was one of only six girl groups to claim Billboard's number one spot in the 1990's.
